Amazing/creative review of the last Tor Press batch

Watch this sweet video of Hebden Bridge legend Ned Netherwood of and his son Otis reviewing the last two tapes released by Tor Press. I love it!

Daniel Bachman, Magpahi, The Bins Live in Todmorden.

Tor Bookings are once again returning to Todmorden Unitarian Church for an evening of amazing music!

Bachman is known predominantly as a guitarist operating in the American Primitive style, often drawing comparisons to the likes of Jack Rose and John Fahey. His music can be riddled with blues and longing but can also turn to meditative and even psychedelic at times.

Magpahi is the solo project of Alison Cooper, also a member of Sam & The Plants and N.Racker who played a stunning show at the church last year. She plays delicate acid folk songs exploring traditional territory with her own style. Beautiful, elegant folk songs.

Collaborative project of Irma Vep and Suk Ninmyo, expect keyboards, guitars and a healthy dose of improvisation, maybe?

Plus Was Ist Das? Soundsystem (DJ) will be playing some tunes between sets!

£5 entry.

Hope to see some of you lovely folks there. S & J x

Supporting Flower Corsano Duo in July!!

Hi guys,

I’ve been off work this week and had a lovely time sorting the house out, walking up very cold hills, barbecuing, drinking cocktails and seeing friends. Music wise, I’ve been writing a new song and did a bit of trombone on one of Jake’s new pieces which sounds ace! I’ve also had a bit of news about the two releases I’ve got due out but will write more when I have dates/times/places and all that.

The news of the day is that I’ve been offered a slot supporting the one and only Flower Corsano Duo up in Cragg Vale! (I don’t know where it is either but I’m told it’s not far from Hebden Bridge) There’s a FBOOK event page here: with all the details on. I’ve got a full band with both Joincey and Pascal playing with me so should be an awesome evening.

Valley Happenings.

Just a few bits and bobs to share. Firstly, thanks to everyone who came to my clothes swap the other day. It went really well! Had a load of lovely people show up, got some great new clothes and donated a lot of stuff to charity so all in all, very happy.

Here’s me at the start giving away my clothes – still have too many. Comes from being really into charity shops I suppose. ImageBut you know what they say, what goes around, comes around… here’s the very happy volunteer at my local RSPCA who I donated all the left overs to at the end of the day. Look how happy she is!

Also, thanks a lot of the great people of Hebden Bridge who came to see me play on Sunday. Pascal and I played as a duo because Joincey hasn’t been too well but it was still super fun. Bridget Hayden was amazing as ever… here’s a blurry pic of her I took:

Playing in Bradford this weekend at Thread fest. On the same bill as The Family Elan and Cian Nugent and the Cosmos. Really looking forward to it! The festival looks pretty amazing actually.

Gig in Hebden Bridge with Bridget Hayden

Proper excited to be playing this gig. The venue is so wonderful. I saw Colin Potter play there last month so I have proof. Bridget is one of my very favourite musicians so I’m always happy to watch her play. Plus Pascal Nichols and Joincey are both on the bill… basically, if I wasn’t playing, I’d still be going to this gig. Can not wait.

It’s hosted by the awesome Was Ist Das, who are a family I adore!
