September 2021 update!

Hope all is well with folks out there, all good here. Thought I’d update the blog on a few recent events and a couple of things coming up.

Feral Productions

If you follow me on Twitter, you might have been noticed me talking about working with Feral Productions on a sound installation at The Courtyard which is the local theatre in Hereford. The project has been happening all year but we finally got to show the project (a curse on Covid!) at the end of August. The project consisted of sound installations in 6 rooms throughout the theatre featuring poetry by Sara-Jane Albury and sound design by me. It’s hard to translate the experience of being in each space into purely audio pieces but there are audio only versions on YouTube here https://youtu.be/G9LeJmU5XTQ The first video is an introduction and if you follow the series you can hear all the pieces.

Calderfolk Project

I’ve recently been part of a collaboration with local illustrator Michael Powell of The Cloud Gallery. Michael commissioned me and 4 other Calder Valley based artists to produce pieces in response to his illustrations which were in themselves, responses to local folkfore stories from the area. I was tasked with a piece called ‘The Watcher’ which was inspired by a combination of local history regarding corpseway trails and UFO sightings in the area. There’s way more info about the project on Michael’s website herehttps://thecloudgallery.com/CalderFolk You can hear my piece here and if you’re feeling energetic you can go and visit where I came up with the ideas for the music via Michael’s handy map on his website.

The Watcher, by Michael Powell.

There’s going to be an event celebrating the project at The Trades Club on the 2nd Sept. I’ve produced a sound piece for this which will be found in the stairwell of the Trades. Maybe see you there? Book tickets via this link.

Lastly, my long awaited (by me!!) follow up solo album to Our Aquarius is actually out in the middle of October! It’s called Goodbye Gemini and contains some nerve wracking stuff. More info soon…
